Abs. We all want them. We think if we do 100 crunches or 3 minutes of planks daily we will get them, right? Wrong.
Abs are not solely about how many exercises you do, but rather a matter of body fat. You may be able to do a ton of sit ups, but it won’t matter if you have fat covering your abs. You won’t be able to see them. You can only see abs when your body fat percentage is low. It sucks but its the truth.
Also, you can’t pin point a specific part of your body to eliminate fat. Your body doesn’t work that way. To loose fat, you have to loose if overall and be in a caloric deficit; which means you need to burn more calories than what you actually consume. One of the best ways to do this is to clean up your diet, in conjunction with challenging cardio and/or lifting. Push yourself, don’t just go through the motions and you will see a difference.
Here is an example regarding body fat- A skinny guy having abs is like an overweight girl having big boobs. It’s a matter of body fat. Guys who are really skinny and barely athletic can flex and it looks like they have all these abs but in reality they just don’t have a lot of fat. Almost everyone would look like that with such a small body fat percentage.
Hopefully, you now have a better understanding on abs and how to achieve them. I have another post about clean eating if you are curious as to what that looks like. The post is called “What Is a Balanced Diet?” and was posted on Sept. 16.
