Current State: February

It’s been about two months since I last “checked” in, so here we go!

Only about a pound down from December, however, if you compare this post from my last current state post, you will notice I have achieved a little bit more definition (which to be honest, this picture is not the best depiction of, due to the grainy quality of the picture). Read More

Is It Too Late Now to Say Sorry?

I’ve been slackin’ on my posts lately, and haven’t produced what I have been wanting and planning too. Please bear with me. I have things that I plan to share that should be helpful. There has been a lot going on within the past weeks- I’m sure you can relate. It seems like things get crazier after the holidays. Read More

Current State: December

It’s been about three months since I last posted about my current state, so I thought I would share where I am.

Gold's Flex
12/28/15                    130 lbs.

The past few months, I have been focusing on building more muscle, specifically in my hams and glutes, so I have been challenging myself with more weight, eating more carbs, all while incorporating about 3 days of light cardio at the end of my workouts. Read More

“I Want to Lift, But Don’t Know Where to Start”

Jumping into the lifting lifestyle at first can be intimidating. You don’t know where or how to start.

You go into the gym unsure of what you’re doing, (usually) surrounded by big, loud, cocky guys, and girls who are more concerned about how they look than their actual “workout.” But you just really want to get fit, but don’t know where to begin. Read More

Lifting Depression

I was diagnosed with clinical depression during my senior year of high school. Now, I realize that you may not believe in depression (clinical or another form). Here in the U.S., the most common solution is to take a pill to solve all your problems- I get it.

Don’t Be Afraid To Bulk

Don’t be afraid to put on a little weight this season in order to build muscle. This involves loosing some definition and visibility of some of your muscles. Us girls are the most hesitant with bulking, but what you have to remember is it’s temporary. When you cut and shed off what you have gained (and maybe a little more) you will unveil a better built physique! (See progress pics at the bottom) Read More

Get Comfortable with Being Uncomfortable

Don’t let the fear of “what will other people think” stop you from doing certain exercises! Likewise, don’t let the fear of “I’m gonna look dumb” prohibit you from trying new things. We all go through it. When trying something new you have to allow yourself time before you “get it.” Your body has to create that mind-to-muscle connection before you “get the hang of it.” Don’t do a set of something new and then stop because you feel like you aren’t doing it right or that you think you look stupid. Keep trying and tweak it till you feel it. Read More

Get Your Muscles Warm, Unless You Want Something Torn

Stretching and warming up your muscles are vital before lifting- especially when you’re doing legs. Problems will more than likely arise later down the road if you don’t take the time to properly warm up your muscles before diving into lifting. I can personally attest, and am regretful I didn’t consistently do it from the beginning. Let me tell you why. Read More

The Truth About Abs

Abs. We all want them. We think if we do 100 crunches or 3 minutes of planks daily we will get them, right? Wrong.

Abs are not solely about how many exercises you do, but rather a matter of body fat. You may be able to do a ton of sit ups, but it won’t matter if you have fat covering your abs. You won’t be able to see them. Read More
