Current State: December

It’s been about three months since I last posted about my current state, so I thought I would share where I am.

Gold's Flex
12/28/15                    130 lbs.

The past few months, I have been focusing on building more muscle, specifically in my hams and glutes, so I have been challenging myself with more weight, eating more carbs, all while incorporating about 3 days of light cardio at the end of my workouts.

This brief bulk this winter was more successful than last years because I am still doing cardio, unlike last winter where I used bulking as an excuse to be lazy and not do cardio because I don’t always like to. Furthermore, my mentality towards food was poor last bulk because I would also use that as an excuse to eat more junk than I should have allowed myself.

Over the next few weeks, I will be transitioning into cutting. My goals are to get down to 123-125 lbs of lean muscle before May. I want to do this safely and realistically over several months, so it will be easier to maintain. Last year I started cutting way too late, and didn’t reach where I would have like to of been in time.

Anyone else starting the New Year cutting?

I plan on posting weekly updates on my cutting journey starting in January, so subscribe to stay in the loop if ya aren’t already. 🙂

Hope everyone has a happy New Year!!!

  1. Looking great. I would be starting to cut if it hadn’t been for my shoulder injury. My strength training has taken a back seat. I’ll do whatever it takes to get back on track without making the injury worse.

      1. I’m still working out. Things are progressing really well. I’ll post about it shortly. Things are never as bad as they could be. I remain ever the optimist.

  2. My trainer tried to kill me today. No, not really, but since it was our last session together, we focused on back squats and deadlifts in an hour long endurance workout. I’m lucky to be able to walk, but the tools he gave me should help me to develop more realistic goals for the coming year. By the way, congratulations on the muscles.

    1. Oh man, squats and deadlifts are already draining as it is- that must have been really intense doing them for an hour! That’s great though!
Have you tried foam rolling before and/or after training legs? I have found it to help with soreness.
Thank you for your support. 🙂

    1. Sorry to hear that cutting has been not been going well for you. Have you made any alterations to your eating habits? Have you been fairly consistent with exercise? To loose weight you have to be in a caloric deficit.
